| I know this website is mainly BNs but i wondered if anyone had any experience breeding other plecos, i love gold nugget and snowball plecos but i can't find anything on breeding these, if no one has any experience of these then any other pleco would be great, i would like to know what other options i would have other than BNs, although, i will breed BNs, i think they are amazing... If nobody has any experience with other plecos then what do you think about other fish, i have looked at zebra danios, guppies e.t.c but it seems a bit too hard to raise the fry especially for someone with no experince... i.e ME Any help appreciated, thanks James | |

| Have you looked at the Hypancistrus HERE, as the name suggests they are very similar to BN's. Due to some of them no longer being imported they can be expensive but you can always buy young fish and grow them on. I currently have L333's and L270's that I'm growing on. | |

| they are breedable. and they are similar to bristlenose but they are much harder. the conditions need to be much more perfect, there are a few extra things you need to consider, flow etc.
As I always suggest, best to build up experence on bristlenose, then try some L numbers

| OK, i won't go into L numbers maybe up to a couple of years, especially with problems with room, and after another troll through the internet i may find some decent info on these fish, and ill have another read through Jim's link Thanks everyone James | |

| thanks for the help, how much harder are peppermints to breed? do they need more exact water conditions or anything?
Thanks

| yep, the water conditions need to be more closely matched to those of their real habitat. Tho is seems some pairs are easier to spawn that others. on a scale of hardness it goes
Bristlenose -> orangespots, peppermints -> wild caught bristlenose -> the more common Ls (L134, L333 etc) -> Other L numbers (fairly easy) -> (very hard) | |
