| Large Spot Pleco (L-354) Fish Statistics Minimum Tank Size:200 litres Diet:Omnivore Origin:South America Temp (C):22-25 C Max Size:25cm Family:Loricariidae Temperament:Peaceful pH:6.5 - 7.5 Care Level:Moderate The Oligancistrus Pleco is also known as the Large spot Pleco or by its L number L-354, and comes from the rivers and tributaries of Brazil. The body is black to dark brown in coloration, and has numerous, irregularly shaped yellow to white patterns covering the body and fins. The Oligancistrus Pleco is a special find, and will make an interesting addition to any moderately large community aquarium. Planted aquariums with hearty, fast-growing plants, high aeration, and water movement make for a healthy environment. Rocks and driftwood help to accent a natural habitat and provide hiding spaces to reduce stress for the Pleco. Due to their potential size, a recommended minimum aquarium of 200 litre should be provided to house this fish. Feeding the Oligancistrus Pleco is not difficult due to the fact that it is not a picky eater. Feeding off the bottom of the aquarium, it gets most of its nutrition from left over food and algae. If there is insufficient algae or left over food present, supplement with a high quality flake food, dried algae sheets, and sinking algae wafers. ............... | |
