We found him among a group of males in one of our usual aquatics and just had to have him!

Is it usual for them to get bristles this big? :O

its interesting you mention this as there is a link between the size and number of bristles and hormone levels which in turn leads to greater breeding success.

in terms of is this a normal male, it is a bit hard to tell from the pic but i would suggest yes. it looks like a common. those bristles are something else though! Put it this way, if I had seen him at the shop...no price would have been too high!!
