| How big is 'it' ? As 'it' could just be a young male. Very rarely (if at all with commons) will a female have any bristles at all. Well with the breeders iv had none of the females have ever had bristles. Peppermint bristlenose on the otherhand usually have 2 small bristles on the tip of there nose and when they are older a small row of tiny bristles around the lip. Do you know if there are eggs in the cave or is the supposed female just hiding in there? | |

| I've never really heard of females fanning before, but I've always wondered if it was possible... Is he/she the only one in the cave fanning, or does /he/she switch with any other of your BNs in the tank to fan? How large is he/she (cm/inches)?

| i have seen females fan before. happens when there is little flow in the tank and they are hiding in a cave. they need to move the water around to get more fresh water with O2. least thats my theory.
not saying its a female, just cobfusing it even more! | |

| Your albino looks male to me, without even looking at his bristles his whole shape is that of a male.
Some males are less endowed in with bristles than others.
What ever happened to the eggs he was fanning?

| thanks for sorting that out for me it looked like the other male (avi) kicked the albino out of his cave and did'nt see any eggs in cave after that :-( their isa lot of tiny fry around the tank so some could be off the albino but seeing as i only have the 1 albino the dont always produce albino fry (so ive been told) | |

| It would be interesting to know if his bristles develop, and how quickly, without the other male. | |
