| OK so i moved some fish tanks on and bought myself an aquaone 980T with the intentions on doing a planted discus tank Here it is a couple days after setup. Just plain black gravel. running twin sponge filters and the built in overhang filter couple days later i added some guppy fry from my prolific breeders to cycle the tank | |

| 2 weeks later in went the plants, driftwood and an eheim 2213 theres only one spot where i could fit the eheim tubing through so i had to extend the intake tubing and run it along the back. hopefully the plants will cover it sooner or later and also this little guy. its a calico bristlenose but its different than normal due to the lack of dark brown patches | |

| Great set up Karl and some stunning fish, love the neon blue ram. Your German blue rams certainly look like a pair the female appears to have the blue dot's/sheen on her side black marking and also to have the black in the pelvic fins. | |

| Beautiful Karl, Well done, They are a pair of Tripple Reds , nice ones too, Congrats..The tank is stunning...Oh and the rams will have trouble bringing up any surviving bubs as the others will be too much for them.. I suggest a separate tank for breeding them... | |

| Very nice setup!! Can't wait to see the adult colouring on those discus. They get such beautiful patterns. Do you know if any are male or female or is it too early to tell? | |

| Too early to tell but with 8 it shouldn't be that hard to get one or 2 pairs.
Noticed daddy ram fanning eggs last night. Good news is they are both looking after the eggs thismorning. Wonder if they will last longer than the last batch... | |

| Found 2 dead fish in there thismorning 1 panda cory and the female apisto cac But while doing the water change i noticed this Seems the checkerboard cichlids were happy enough in there to breed Only the mum looks after the eggs, she chases everything that gets within 10cm radius of the eggs including the checkerboard male lol | |

| This tank has finally begun its overhaul Most the fish including the discus are gone. All thats left is a few guppies and the ever elusive calico bn. Everything has been removed plants and all (except for the big driftwood log in the middle) and will be replaced with some lava rock. I have a hand full of val left that i will plant at the back of the tank (even tho it will probably get eaten) Now for the fun part, the stocking I have on order from Fish Bowl and Pond (where Doug works ) of 15 zebra cichlids. So yes it will now be converted into a malawi african cichlid tank. With the zebra cichlids i have on order 5 cobalt blue zebras, 5 red zebras and 5 albino zebras. I went for a zebra only tank as they are quite aggressive and figured a species only tank would be best. Doug has assured me i should have the fish in aboout 2 weeks which gives me plenty of time to get the tank parameters right for malawi cichlids At the moment the tank only has the driftwood log and rocks thrown in there with some guppies to keep the bacteria going in the filters. I will start posting pics up once i have it organized and looking the way i want it to so keep an eye here | |

| heres an update pic stripped everything out, added the droftwood log, 12 pieces of volcano rock with one having a java fern tied to it. inhabitants consist of: about 10 guppies (mix m/f) 1 golden algae eater 1 albino rainbow shark 1 albino sf bn (named froggy coz hes got a stunted nose) and recently added 5 dragonblood peacock cichlids Now before anyone says these arent compatible i kinda know but i researched what kind of fish i can have in what kind of water and im confident i can keep the parameters right to make it work. | |
