| Is it rare to have a peppermint bristlenose which is yellowy brown instead of black? Thanks | |

| Peppermints are black with white spots. Yellowy brown doesn't sound normal. Has it just started showing these colours? I know Peps do have a tendency to go a lighter colour when stressed but it's not the colour you described | |

| It's (not sure if m/f) yellow brown with white spots it's been like that since I bought it a couple of months ago. I hadn't seen it for a long time but yesterday I saw it and if anything it had gotten a lighter colour. Its definitely not sick maybe just genetically lighter or it might be stressed whenever it comes out of hiding (Since it doesn't come out of hiding much).
I think the lighter colour they go when stressed is what I call yellowy brown. I'd take a picture but I probably won't see that one again for awhile. It also seems that it has grown at double the rate as its two brothers/sisters, it's almost double the size of the other two.
Thanks | |

| Have a flick through on google if ya can and see if you can find a picture similar. Pics work best for identifying fish | |

| Hey, I'm not 100% on this but I have heard of peppermints that do not colour up or stay a Mottled colour as you are describing, as long as the other tank mates are good and the pep isn't stressed then it's most likely down to the gene pool he came from... I'm sure it's still a lovely fish pictures would be great. | |

| I have no idea where it's hiding and I don't really want to uproot the whole tank and disturb it and the other fish/shrimp so I can't get a picture, sorry T_T. It's probably the same colour as this one but mine has bigger white spots (because it isn't very old so the spots are bigger). Edit: that's not a picture of my fish I found it on the internet. Is a black or yellowish pepp more appealing? Thanks guys | |

| I've seen pictures of the L071, described as coming from the Manaus area of Brazil, with similar colouration. Is yours a uniform colour like that one or does it show any distress markings. | |

| My peps when distressed go greyish, not brown. Only ever see it if i catch them and hold them in a light coloured container though | |

| Hm.. How long does it take for them to change colour when distressed? Maybe I freak them out and they change colour when they see me Also the 'Juvinile Bristlenose' under Alasse's name is spelled incorrectly if anyone cares. | |
