well everything was going well.......

couple of days in the male kicked 3 egg's, one clear, one white, one orange, i scooped these up and they went into my improvised egg rumbler,

a day later another 3 this time all 3 where orange, but had lil bits of brown on the outside...start of fungus ? so in they went too Smile

the next day i came home from work and there was a big clump sat outside his cave Sad doh!!!!

must be about 18 egg's in total all stuck together, i would say about 80% of these where orange and the rest see through, so scoupted them up too and into the rumbler they went....

couple of days later, the big clump is still a big clump but a few of the pairs and single egg's and lil white bit's on them...

i thought i better check it out....and to my suprize the lil white bits where tiny lil plec's on the outside of the egg's....when i say tiny i mean like 1.5mm in lenth max...

i was delighted and had a sence of wellbeing as i had saved these lil guys....lets hope i can see them all the way through...

as for the big clump.....still waiting.....

so i have a couple of questions.....

different eggs -
orange....fertaile ?
white....erm dead ?
brownish...fungused ?
clear...unfertiale ?

and then my next question, i know it takes a couple of days or so for them to have used up the egg at what point should i reduce the air flow through the egg's and then also when should i let them out of the rumbler.....

cheers,
Dave....

DIY Rumbler= 1 netted stick on breeding box with a air pump going underneath it so the bubbles come through,

these are in a smaller tank with a sponge filter and breeding corys.....the corys will be moved out so they get free run as soon as there ready......

Congratulations on saving some of the Pepp's eggs cheers

Healthy eggs of most BN's are normally an orangy colour, I would agree with the white and clear but I do not think I have seen brown ones.

I would leave the fry untill they become free swimming, the male would normally fan wrigglers.

Something may have disturbed the male or he is still inexperienced, I's assuming you did not do anything like shining a torch into the cave.

na no shinning tourches etc etc, i purposly put the cave in at the back and on an angle so i could't disturb him,

to be fair he was very quick from finishing one batch to moving onto the next, maybe he just got tired...bless him...

well in total i recon i got about 20 ish eggs, i'll see how i do with them, plus i have about 25 from the previous batch all doing well at about 1.5cm Smile

bit of an update, i have had a look through the next with a pipette and cleared out all the hollow egg's etc, i'm left with about 18 lil orange bumper cars with tiny fish on top flying around.

i have noticed one of them is free swimming but very tiny....what would you reccomend to feed this lil guy on....

maybe liquid fry or somthing ?

Does he still have any egg sac left, if he does then don't feed just yet but if it's all gone then a small slice of cucumber or courgette would be OK, although it will need replacing before it starts to break down.

humm i'm thinking he has come away from his egg before he has finished eating it all....

i'll keep an eye on him and see....

think the majority of them are only a day out of the egg....

i'll keep you posted Smile
