| Leopard Frog Pleco (L134) Peckoltia sp. Fish Statistics Minimum Tank Size:200 litres Diet:Omnivore Origin:South America Temp (C):22-27 C Max Size:11 cm Family:Loricariidae Temperament:Peaceful pH:6.0 - 7.5 Care Level:Moderate The Leopard Frog Pleco is an omnivore with a liking for meaty foods but will eat some veggies too. Wood is appreciated in it's diet This is a very pretty pleco when acclimated and settled in. New fish in stress coloring are a little drab and don’t really give a clue as to how nice the Leopard Frog Pleco can look. When the L134 does settle down and comes out into view, the contrast between the light and dark bands are striking. As the Leopard Frog Pleco matures and approaches breeding size it becomes very rounded and at this point many aquarists get very frustrated in the attempt to spawn them. When spawning success has been achieved, it has been described as the main trigger behind the spawn was a lowering of the TDS again signaling a change of seasons Both the male and female L134 get very rounded when mature. The male fish develops odontoides or “hairs” on the rear of the body and pectoral fins. They are cave spawners which need a "season change" signal of a drop in TDS and temperature in order to spawn ......................... | |

| I have only just seen this post damn wish I had kept mine now.... as curby said i just dropped my water temps, added a few plants for them not to be stressed by other fish, and after about 3 months of patiently waiting they did the deed.... http://www.plecoplanet.com/forum/showthread.php?s=72fc76c6d08f08f30e6bda39e913167a&t=4862&page=2 regards lj | |

it is always good for us when new members see a L catfish they have not seen before and then want to try breeding them. Just remember it can often be aa waiting game even when every thing seems ok it can often be stressful too ...lol | |
