| Good luck with your recent acquisition mate, but don't bank on a 50/50 reproduction rate, its normally the male that comes out on top :!: | |

I dont want to put a spanner in your works steve, but I tried this once and I ended up having nearly a tank full of browns. I had a female longfin and a male short fin, and I would say about every 4 out of 5 batches always produced more brown short fins, either I was unlucky or they just did not have it in them..lol

| im not sure mate would have to see pictures of the fish but only summising it might be offspring of a parent fish that may have cross bred with a brown in previous spawnings mate but ive bred thousands of l144s and from numerous pairs and trios and never produced a brown fry yet i have however had 3 fry before with a brown spot on there flanks before but i believe this can be quite common as graham from reading has had the same thing happen to him and guessing you may have a cross bred longfin with slightly longer fins than a standard l144 mate | |

just my thoughts entirely so guess a breeder was not entirely honest with me or just did not have a clue...lol
