PostSubject: Green algae dots   Green algae dots EmptyWed Dec 14, 2011 3:17 am

My discus tank has developed lots of green algae spots all over the front and side glass. Now the thing is there is 3 resident bristlenose in the tank and they havnt really been eating it. They aren't adults still 4-5cm juvies. Iv seen them on the glass but the algae is still there...

the green spot algae is a bit too tough for them and they cant rasp it off.

Get in there with a razor and clean it off Smile

ive got a scowering pad like used for non-stick pans. I use that and a little bit of elbow grease to get of the spot algae.

It's a bowfront so can't use razor blade. Will have to give the old scower a shot

btw -- its not a metal one as I'm not brave enough to risk the glass getting damaged. Its like this but a non-brand name and even cheaper.Green algae dots Washing-up-scourer

Yep, it is a head-ache Kfenk.

None of my BNs like those algae, so they leave the cleaning up to me, always.

I have the same problem with some spots on a few sword leaves as well. I use a magnetic scraper for the glass; it works great.
