Help Help Help need to sex bn

hi i was sold 2 bn's as male and female can anyone help as i have been told they are both male

if the other one has bristles then its also a male

does have bristles but only around the lip and very little ill post photos in morning

Contrary to what some people say I am yet to have a female common or variant with bristle. That have always been males. Usually the larger ones with small bristles are sub male. If you put them with a cave and an actual female the bristles grow quickly

yeah, im with Kfenk, i reckon you have two males

the other way to tell is body shape. Females are more plump and rounded. Males are much more torpedo shaped with straight sides.

Hi,they are both male in my opinion.The one on top looks smaller and not as well developed.Are they siblings?

im not sure if they are siblings as i didnt breed them

Im not so sure they are both males....

Can you take another pic of the one on top?? as i cannot see any bristles up the nose...unless im going blind again..
Also your male seems to have a bent tale aswell not a problem though,.

I agree with it being a sub dominant male.

The other male does seem to have a bit of a kink starting just after the adipose fin, but it could be just some distortion through the bag .

As Curby said it's not a problem and does not stop him being a healthy fish but ideally you would not use him for breeding due to the risk of it being genetic rather then an injury.

the kink in the tail is a sign of inbreeding. def dont use him for breeding.

As they can be damaged from about 2cm's as i found out when i used a syphon to remove the young and when got trapped and as a result its tail got bent...but you cant be 100% sure how its happened so i would stick with doug and buy a different male from another source....

I firmly believe that you have got a couple of males.
