| Its possible to breed in tank that size. I've had spawns in 1 1/2" pvc pipe, just be sure to block one end and partially block the entrance(so he can feel safe)... maybe put a little substrate inside as well. Good luck! | |

| Breeding in that size tank is possible. Only a pair is advisable and as long as there is adequate filtration and aeration. But for growing out fry you would need atleast 100L+ I'm not a big fan ov PVC as the eggs tend not to stick and are booted much easier. If your unable to source a clay cave locally then eBay is a sure bet. Or you could go the cheap way like me and drill the male a 2cm diam cave about 10cm deep into a piece of wood. They do seem to much like wood and bamboo caves | |

| Hi kfenk
thanks for your advice, I have a 200 ltr tank, but this has gor golden barbs in and am afraid that they would attack the fry ... what size should they be before adding them to the tank do you think. i didnt realize you could get clay caves on ebay . I will have a look

| It could happen but i wouldnt like to put a pair in a tank so small.... Minimum i recommend is 65Litres.....
And im with Karl on PVC ive tried various shapes and sizes and they was only interestid in slate caves or a home made bog wood cave which i would 100% recommend.. | |

| I really wanted to get my Albino pair to breed so gave him some cave options. 1. Bored out bogwood cave. 2. Pvc pipe cave. 3. Upside down instant coffee lid with opening cut into it. He did in fact take a good look at each one... I was so hoping he would choose the bogwood In the end they spawned under the instant coffee lid I have had 5 spawns and none of them in "proper" areas. batches were born in the following order 1. Upside down plastic lid on top of gravel (ended up moving them to fry saver) 2. pvc pipe 3. pvc pipe 4. backseat of over-turned 4x4 truck ornament 5. upside down plastic lid bottom of tank (against the glass) I'm on a strict budget | |

| whip yourself up a fry saver big enough to take the cave. when the dad has eggs move the whole cave, dad included into the fry saver, this will save the fry from hungry barbs and will also allow dad to keep doing his fartherly job | |
