PostSubject: Fruit anyone?   Fruit anyone? EmptySun Jul 05, 2009 4:48 pm

Perhaps it's been covered here before,
But does anyone feed their BN's fruit with any regularity?
If so what kind, and what does it do to the water?

Thanks,
Jack

I throw in to occassional peice of nectarine/peach/plum with the stone attached. They soon clean it up, and seem to love using the stone for months after.

Not a lot to be honest curby. They really love to rasp on the stones, especially the peach/nectarine. If you want to try them, give them the stone after you've eaten most of the flesh from it.

Thanks from across the pond! (Oregon, US) By stone I assume you meant the seed? How did you sink the fruit? Whole or cut in half?

Yep, I mean the seed in the centre. The stone/seed itself adds as a natural weight. Depending on the number of fish to eat it, it could be anything from half to literally the bits left when you've finished eating it. I put it in my community tank and anything from Discus to guppies would have a go.

I have tried Mango with my Ls and Bristlenoses
I just used the Pip and put it under a rock to hold it down
The Ls didnt seem to be interested but the Bristlenose had a ball
only left in the tank over night and the part that was exposed had been grazed upon
and the only downer was the tank had lots of floating pieces of mango but i was able to get that out using a small net
