| Hi, I would like to breed my L144 plecos. I have 7 altogether, but I have a specific pair that I'd like to breed.
I believe they are big enough to breed now as they are about 8cm. I have them in a heavily planted tank with loads of bogwood that they graze on. I put indian almond leaves in the water as well. The pH is about 6.6ish, and the temp is 24c. I feed them Hikari algae wafers and veggies. Is there anything I can do to encourage them to spawn? They both look really healthy, so I believe they are happy in their environment.
thanks, Ben | |

| Hi, I have a breeding group of 6 L144s, my ph is 6.2, GH 2, temp 28C, 33 gallon tank. I do 25% water changes twice a week. As a former discus keeper, I am used to doing big water changes. I feed them zucchini, romaine, blanched spinach and algae wafers. I find the water changes trigger the spawning. Your fish seem to be a good size, I find that my females are ready to spawn at a smaller size and younger age then the males. The males seem to take longer to be sexually mature, and only when they have their full set of bristles, are they ready to procreate. | |

| Up your temp, needs to be round 26 so you can drop it for the trigger.
apart from that read all the information on triggering spawns. Also, how many males are there the tank? | |

| Thanks for the tips. In the tank that the pair is in there are no other plecos. The other 5 are in another tank. | |
