| Hi All..
I just put together my first trio of Common BN.
They are in a 55lt for now & will go into my 3fter 120ltr when it becomes available in the next few weeks.
Firstly I have read about triggering spawns & I know for a fact that one of my females laid eggs last week & the other has never laid. My male is from a different breeder & has been a dad before. (he was fanning the fry when i first saw him 3 weeks ago)
How long between doing the water change/temp drop/ heater off, do i turn it back on? & then how long after that should i see any movement if i am going to see any at all...
I have been looking but unable to find anything yet. Also, My tap water PH is 7.2 & my tank rises to 7.5. How can i keep it down without replacing 25% of the water every 2-3rd day?
I have got PH down but am not sure if i should use it as the tank just re-buffers itself to 7.5. | |

| Firstly Hello and Secondly I wouldn't bother trying to trigger them. If the male and female have bred before they should again when ready. At the moment with the weather we are getting down here in Adelaide they should breed no worries. I don't use any buffers on my breeding tank and my marble longfins are spawning like clockwork. My male has just released his second batch of fry | |

| Hi,have you got plenty of bog wood in the tank? That will bring ph down and also is necessary for the bristlenose.I agree dont mess about with temps etc just leave them to it. | |

| Adding more bogwood to lower pH, as Bristlenoses suggested, is a much better option then using chemicals. Many owners have BN's that breed in higher pH, just give them time to settle in and they will more than likely breed without any interference | |

| I have got one piece & it is rather small 2inches wide by maybe 6 inches long. I may have to go scouting for a few more. The shops here charge through the roof for each piece Thanks for the advice & the welcomes too of course :P | |

| Hi, Do you have any Limesone, shells or coral sand in your tank?
All of this could buffer your PH and KH up if you do.
