| I have a 9watt aqua-medic helix max
http://www.aqua-medic.com/product/helix-max-9w/
i have had it for over 4 years now without issue. had to replace the globe once. it runs off my eheim 2217 so the flow rate is quite slow through it. that is something to keep in mind with them. the higher the flow rate, the higher the wattage needed. | |

| Just my 2 cents here but dealing with ponds we sell a lot of inline UV sterillizers and for the most part I've been told the bulbs are only good for 18 months of use. This basically means here where we have a full winter a pond keeper can get maybe 2.5 years use out of a bulb. We have customers that think that just because the bulb "lights up" that it is still efficient (not unlike reef or reptile lighting). Which is not true. Also, flow rate (exposure time) is very important. To high a flow might make a dent in green water conditions but might be too high a rate to kill free floating parasites.
