I think I have eggs!!

I believe that my LF common male and my LF calico female have done the deed. I just saw that the female's belly is pretty concave where she is normally a slightly round/robust shape. I never suspected that she was even gravid as her abdomen never seemed overly swollen to me. I do know however that last night she was her "normal" shape and this afternoon she Is all deflated.

I can still see the male is upside down in his cave with just the tip of his bristles sticking out. This is more or less how he usually is. I can't tell if he is fanning or if there are any eggs in with him.

Has anyone ever experienced a male rejecting a female? Two nights ago I saw him chase her away from his cave. He chased he all the way to he other side! So I am thinking it may be possible that she was forced to lay outside the cave. If that u the case, they'd be infertile and eaten.

I would add that when my males are protecting eggs its normally their tail poking out with their fins fanning the water.

they usually chase away but when he is ready he will let her in

My male used to chase my females away for quite a while, then one day I watched both the females going in and out all day, then the next morning I had about 150 or so eggs! When he has the love nest perfect for the female, he will let her in!
