| I plan on moving my itty bitty babies out of the HOB marina breeder trap on Saturday. They'll be 1 week old then. I am just trying to determine which tank would be best to put them in...
Option 1) 10g by themselves
Option 2) 10g with six 2 month old BNs
Option 3) 55g with 12 ish swordtail fry.
I keep bouncing between options 1) and 3). My only concern with 3) is that it would be so large a tank they might feel lost...or it might be hard to find food.
Any input? I am leaning towards 3) because I see how much waste my 6 make in a 10g and I can only imagine if there were 40 in the same size tank...

| Did you managed to save 40? Nice! Do you have any plants, decorations in 55? The older they are the harder to chase. You probably know that. Mine, they breed in my show tank, do demolition is not an option, but I don't have to get them all right away, right? So whatever I catch, goes to 16gal. There are the moments, that I have over 60 3-4cm guys. Sic! The trick is very porous gravel + 280gph filter + weekly water changes. I know, sounds nuts, but it works, I've never had ammonia problem and nitrates are used by some kind of ultra-fast growing floating moss. There's current like hell, but they love it. And again, most important, it works! | |

| Thanks There is a very thin (Bare spots visible) layer of gravel, a large piece of drift wood, some floating plants, and a cave. Filtration is an ehiem Ecco 60 (something to that effect.) Also have two bubble bars, one on each side of the tank. | |

In my 16 there's a whirlpool created by emperor 280, but they like it. Small tank, sure, but in my tiny apartment I had no other choice. I have 2x46gal and almost no place for bed.

| Moved them to the 55 tonight. This was them bubble acclimating to the new tank. I love these HOB breeder traps, so useful! I counted 49 and my BF counted 53. So roughly 50... One of the albinos seems deformed. It has a really short body and huge head compared to its siblings. It also took 2 days longer to absorb its egg yolk. I know this kind of thing can happen no matter the genetics and rearing of fry. Still kind of a bummer though. All the others seem to be super healthy and thriving, and none have died! This spawn also produced common, calicos, and albinos. Today they are 8 days old so it is definitely time for them to come out of that trap. Maintainence for that trap included daily turkey basteribg of the waste once they started eating and replacing the green beans everyday. So far they have been eating no salt added canned green beans and veggie sticks. Tonight I broke up a couple wafers, and tomorrow I plan on buying some cucumber. | |
