| Hi there.. I've got 10 little bristlenose. got them in a small holding tank just so I could get some snaps before letting them go into the dark 4 footer I've set up for them. Looking at them in the light I realise they're all different...some are plain brown (which I assume are the common BN), and some have little dots. 2 of the smallest are black with dots. Dunno if this is just because they're young, or what. Here's some snaps anyway. I numbered them for reference: 1. 2. 3. 4. thanks! | |

| Yup I'd also say commons, but in the second to last pic- the difference between the smaller commons and the bigger ones "could" be Cirrosus or what ever they are called (a little help Curby) J

| I agree, common BN. There is a much wider range in the exact shade of brown than most people newly associated with common BN realize. My first 3 browns all from the same batch of common BN at the lfs are all different. The female is a medium blotchy brown with stripes on her face, one male is a typical charcoal brown with light spots and the other male is medium brown with spots that are almost as dark as his body color so unless you look closely he appears solid brown. In general, if the fish was fairly inexpensive it is a common aquarium strain BN; anything other than that will be higher priced. | |
