Is this bloat or something else? Posting for a friend.

Hi, I am posting this for a fellow club member of mine.  Her BN seems to be so bloated that it has a prolapsed rectum.  I have never seen anything like this.  Any advice that you can offer?  I know I haven't followed the template, but I really don't know much about her tank(s).  You can view the original thread here, http://ftmyas.com/forum/index.php?topic=313.0

poor fishy. It is very unlikely to survive now it has a prolapse, she can try getting it to eat peas for about 2-3 days but i doubt anything will fix her now

I decided to make a profile here. He has improved somewhat, the swelling has gone down mostly and the bubble has shrunken back in.

Hi,that fish is very sick.It really needs isolating so it can have some peace.It looks bloated but also looks like it has some bacterial infection aswell as the obvious prolapse.If it was mine i would humanely put it to sleep.If you want to try and save it (which in my opinion will be difficult) then it needs isolating and treating but must go into a fully cycled tank.

Can you give full details of tank set up,water test results,tank maintenance,tank occupants,what you feed all the fish and any other info you can.

It seems to be getting better, the swelling has gone down. It is in a 55 gallon tank with a baby red tailed catfish, baby pacu, Senegal bichir, butis butis, freshwater lionfish, young Lima shovelnose catfish, and a mono sebae

Glad to hear it's doing better, and welcome to bristlenose world! Your tank mates are carnivorous I am assuming (maybe except the pacus...?) I'm not too into the large oddball fish so I am guessing here. I bet the BN ate too much of the food you were feeding the other fish. Check out some threads here in the feeding section and you'll find loads of good information!

Hi,definately not good tank mates for a bristlenose,he/she really needs removing from that environment.
