Subject: water changes with fry. Sun Aug 18, 2013 7:55 am
Hi, sorry if this has been asked before, did do a search for it but found nothing...
I have apprx 10 fry in my tank, along with lots of tetras, some guppies and some cherry barbs. It is a 140l tank and I do a 30 l water change every 7 - 10 days. Should I up the water changes now there are babies (and messy ones too!) in there?
Also am I being paranoid or is it easy to suck up the babies when vaccing???
Cheers,
Suks

I personally would say yes 10L per day will be great, this gives the babies lots of fresh water & they will grow very quickly. By doing approx 10% WC daily i have had fry grow to sellable size in 8 weeks.
I did an experiment recently with 2 of my tanks, 1 i changed 10% daily, the other i did 20% every 3ish days.
The fry in the 2nd tank are still 1.5cm where the fry in the 1st tank are ready to sell. (3+cm)

Thanks for the info chaase. I might try the 10% daily method and see if I notice a difference.

Thanks! I will give that a try. That growth rate sounds amazing!
