| Hi!
I have a problem with my Bristlenose and hope you good people have the experience to help!
I have had my bristlenose for around 5 years with no problem until a few months ago his eyes have turned white, not just cloudy but completely white. Apart from that the fish seems normal and is feeding and behaving the same as always.
My water changes have always been regular and quality is ok, I have tried adding the correct amount of salt as I was told this may help, also I have medicated the tank with King British "disease clear". Alas, I have seen no noticeable improvement to the eyes.
Any ideas what the problem could be or how else I could treat him? Apologies if this has all been covered on the forum, I had a look and didn't find the answers I needed.
Any help will be much appreciated!
Kind Regards
Mike Jay | |

| Welcome to the forum. Assuming water quality and pH is OK? Did you test it? Do you season water before changes? If it's been few months, your plec is probably blind already. It's hard to tell w/o visual (pic'd be helpful) but it sounds like bacterial infection. If it was chilodonella, you'd noticed change of behaviour. You can try Melafix. In case of plecos correct amount of salt=0! | |

| Thanks for the replies people, much appreciated.
Yes I had the water tested and all was ok. I think lack of salt was the original cause of the problem, until about 2 months ago I had not been adding salt during water changes. This is now rectified and salt level should be correct now.
I tried to get a picture of him, apologies the quality isn't great but you can see the problem:
