| one of my BNs had his head sticking out of the tank today, i gave him a gentle push down into the water with my finger and he tryed to swim up (maybe out) i was worried that he might jump out as he hangs round the water level alot!! I'm glad you posted this as i was gonna post something similar today | |

| I have 1 piece of bog wood in the tank. But my BNs are bigger than the wood!! The bog wood isn't a hollow piece but just a lump so they can't hide in there. I dunno, i've had cichlids jump outta the tank before but never a BN. I hope it never happens. If i were you, i would take everything out of your tank (checking if there is anything in there) you could find him any were. He could be hidden under something or in something (they are very tricky some times). | |

| High theK bog wood /drift wood - pretty much do the same purpose, so if you have either you'll be right. You said you originally had 6 and have found 1 corpse allready- 4, inch long babies would have no problems stripping another corpse in a couple of nights( i hope this isn't the case). Or like every one suggested, strip the tank down and have good look. I can't say I've had any of my B/N try to jump for it. J

| They can sometimes jump out. My sister had one do this. They seem quite good at crawling across the carpet but it dries them out. They can usually survive quite a surprising time out of water though. I have also seen them jump out of traps when people have been catching them for me. | |
