| Hi there! My names Matthew and im from ACT. I'm a newbie to all things fish related, i've always loved fish though, my parents had them when I was a kid, they had large tanks filled with all sorts, but my favorite was always.. The bristlenose! A little over a month ago I started my first tank and purchased a year old male common bristle-nose, he was at about 7cm (I believe) and quiet bristley. I've had him for a month now and he is happy and a lot lot bigger and a tonne more bristley! Two weeks ago I purchased (what i hope) is a female peppermint bristlenose so in future they may, hopefully breed.. I wish I could own more of them since they are so awesome! Alas my tank is only 90L.. Probably a good thing though! I've done a lot of research on all things bristle-nose related and thought I should sign up here to further my knowledge and addiction to these amazing fish! Anyway thats my introduction! Thanks | |

| Hi & to Bristlenose World You might want to start by reading this http://www.bristlenoseworld.com/t2500-crosses-interbreeding-bristlenose-updated I am not an expert on BN but think this applies to your fish. Have fun and remember there is always someone here that will try and answer your questions. | |

| Thanks for that thread! Interesting read and well looks like they won't! My girlfriend is the one who wanted a peppermint and didn't really let me go and do my research before we went and got it... Ah well! Lesson learnt. | |

| You could always take the peppermint back and get the female to go with the male girlfriend might not like that idea though. Or a bigger tank lol | |

| welcome mate! If you have a female peppermint then i would be holding onto her. They are rare! Males are more common and you should be able to find a male somewhere pretty quickly. | |

girlfriend might not like that idea though. Or a bigger tank lol Haha, oh she won't believe me :P We've just decided to go grab a female albino this week or next to go with the common male and see how the peppermint goes with those two and decide from there. Bigger tank will come in time as I decide I want more and more fish, trust me. it'll happen :P - Doug wrote:

I had no idea female peppermints we're rare, thats cool. I'll have to hold onto her now if they get along.. Hopefully Mr bristles and the albino won't gang up on the peppermint.. | |
