strange, or hard female!

i have a pair of triadiantus bn plecos. the male is about 12cm and the female 10 cm ish. The male sometimes beats her up, only a "dart" at her, but sometimes gets a bite in there too she seems very happy though, and shares the same piece of wood alot with him. she doesnt seem fased by his aggression, because like i said she just goes back over to him, and they are fine. (until the next time lol) Should i be worried? or is it natural behavior? there is 2 piees of wood in the tank, and its 81cm long. why 81 i dont know lol! also ihave had him for around 11 months and added the female to him around 8 - 9 months later. please help thankyou

Just keep an eye out for battle damage, if you keep seeing sores appear on the female well then you have a problem,
if any of these marks keep appearing but are healing well -I'd say you'd be fine.

My albino male gives the female a good chasing now and again but it tends to be when he is fattning up ready for spending a few weeks in his cave fanning eggs without any food....

plus it can be him showing his dominance towards her...

but you will see her show her dominance when she wants in his cave....

its all good lol......

thats exactly how i do it mate courgette and Hikari wafer's...

as soon as you see your female trying to get into his cave stop feeding and dont disturb them....

what other fish do you have there and how big is your tank??

my tank is a 3 footer, with 2 woods and 1 cave, (btw shall i add more or just have the one?) i have cories, tetras and cherry barbs.

The barbs may nip at there bristles and will almost certanly have a go at fry....

for 1 pair 1 cave should be fine what size/type of cave do you have.....

my cherries are very docile, and would regret nipping either of my plecs!
the cave is large inside, with only a 6cm wide entrance. i have some others that are clear, and alot smaller in the poening. also, the cave is quite busy, shall i move it nearer mr plecs home where nearly nothing goes?

you need a really tight fitting cave....the cave my male uses is in the bog wood and it looks like there is only enough room in there for him but some how it works and she fits herself in....

Im now convincing myself that the best cave available wood be a Large piece of bog/drift wood with a hole drilled out...
By using what i call an Holesaw(drill bit) that can be bought at any D.I.Y shop.....

oh ok, yeah my dads got a large drill bit, will give that a go, would be a nice cave anyway,
