| Hi, was just reading through this thread, I have contacted Rare Aqutics and was told they will contact me when they get more super reds in, don't think I want to pay 40 quid for one though , at Trimar they are advertising """ ANCISTRUS SP.LONGFIN RED JEWEL BRISTLENOSE 9.99 """ I know these are not super red, on anther forum I was advised they may be a strain of Calico, anyone care to share there knowledge in my direction, I am very tempted......... | |

| I've had loads of S R babies from my males. I can't stop them breeding so I've isolated them for a month in the grow on tanks which are far too small for them really but they are ok when I put them back in the main tank and off they go again. Just for the record I had one breed with a brown girl and all the offspring were brown. I wonder if the red gene would ever surface but I shan't breed them back myself. They all go to my LFS. | |

| If there are Long Fin Super Red Bushynose we have not yet seen them in North America. For this reason I have been working on developing my own. I crossed a Long Fin Albino female with a Super Red Bushynose male. All the fry were were of the brown goldspot colour half of them long fin and half short fin. I grew up some of the long fins and crossed a long fin female back to a Super Red male. They just recently spawned and only last week did the fry leave the cave. Half of them are brown and half apear to be Super Red judging from the dark eyes and the tiny dark spot at the caudle base that all super red fry have. About half of them show the longer tail so it looks like I am having success. From my past 60 years of fish breeding and past experience with genetics it will not be too much longer before I have my own fixed strain of Long Fin Super Red Bushynose. | |
