New Babies Empty
PostSubject: New Babies   New Babies EmptySat Mar 27, 2010 6:20 pm

I have had my eye on a pair of common BNs in my local shop for a while, and I put a deposit on them but couldn't take them as Dad was on eggs. I went in today for a progress report, and they've hatched. The lady in the shop asked if I'd take them now, in cave with dad. I obliged, and so am now 'bringing up baby' for the shop. bonus is, even though they bred in the shop, she'll pay me £1.25 a baby once theyre grown on!

Have cave, dad and babies in a breeding net in my tank. Mum is swimming free with my longfin male and albino female.

WELL CHUFFED Smile

One question - I plan to split the breeding pair up, and pimp her to my longfin...will this hurt?

Good show hopkins182 and what a deal scoring babies from the shop and allready having them sold,
that takes some of the hard work out of it.
Females usually need about a month before they will be ready with eggs again, so if you have her with another male
if she's not ready nothing will happen- it's the males that will breed non-stop and this can take it's toll on your fish--
if you have a male that hasn't eaten for a week while sitting on eggs and he gets another chance to spawn- that makes it two weeks with out food . I bet you're feeling hungry when look at it like that.
cheers J

the male which is currently with the young will have to be released soon, and then I'll have 2 mature males, 1 mature female, and 1 juvie female. Common male will be going in my cichlid tank when I've set it up. Will I have probs with 2 males for a couple of months?

true, but the problem is that I have only a 2.5ft tank with them in, and dont want to risk overcrowding. I do have another female, but will 2 males not fight? Plus, was going to keep the common male as a cleaner for my malawis, and go with 1 male to 2/3 f's in my 2.5 ft breeding tank.
