| wouldnt dare mate. would imagine the pieces would have to be spot on size wise. My Diy skills arent the best and unless it was in a fish house I wouldnt dare risk it | |

| I've built my own tanks in the past but don't do it anymore. It's not hard if you have the right tools and a carpeted bench.
Cheaper and easier to buy pre-built tanks. The only reason I would consider doing it again is if I needed some specific dimensions or something that was really big, maybe 100+ gallons.
I have been cutting my own lids though.

| I used to do it too, But they never looked as good as a shop bought tank It's hard to get the proper silicone without the antibacterial ingredient.
Now I keep an eye out for 2nd and free (yes they are out there) tanks.

My hubby did back in the early 80's when the latest craze just happened to be 'self assembly' fish tanks! He put his elbow thru it a week later which ruined my hall ceiling so that stopped his fish keeping for a while! Thank heavens it's cheaper to buy now I have started up again

| I would always recommend buying rather than making one diy, some things are best left to the experts... alot of good second hand fish tanks can be found if your patient and keep looking around. I got a 4 foot one recently with lid and lights for £40 | |
