| No problem!! Look on Craigslist, freecycle and cheapcycle (yahoo groups) for your area for people with scrap lumber. | |

| When I hear "rack system" I think of something more like this...
http://www.swisstropicals.com/Swisstropicals%20Fishroom.html
I modified this system so each tank has an overflow and each rack it's own sump. If I catch a problem I can turn off the return line to that particular tank, add a heater, and turn any tank into an isolated quarantine tank.
The HMF filter design is relatively new to me but I'm liking it very much.

| Yea, I'd love to have that many. He's got a lot of bristlenose also.
My racks are smaller. I have three metal racks with a 18x36 inch footprint. For two of them I packed 3 levels in there. (x3) 10 gallons on top, (x4) 5.5 gallons in the middle, and (x1) 40 gallon breeder on the bottom. The third one holds (x2) 40 gallon breeders with some storage space on top. I also have a rack of (x12) 20 gallon long tanks where most of my breeding takes place. This one is made from wood because I had trouble finding a metal rack that would fit them how I wanted.
The HMF filters in each tank provide a lot of surface area. The sump is probably redundant but I like to over filter especially for our dirty little plecos. My sumps are 35 gallon rubbermaid garbage cans with a column of 5 gallon buckets down the middle. This creates separate chambers for different media and is pretty cheap to put together.
I like these rack type setups because you can fit a lot of water into a small footprint. There is space to separate individual fish, breeding space, and grow out space. Of course this was designed with breeding in mind and are not really display tanks so it depends on what you're goals are.

| Sounds like you have a nice set up also.
Doesn't matter what goals are for what. lol..for me fish are relaxing. If I had a set up like that i'd be the calmest person on the planet.
I'm also the one that takes a fold up camp chair to the aquarium...lol
