| I was visiting the craft store with my wife the other day and found cholla wood for dirt cheap. I vaguely remember hearing that BNs loved it. Would it be worth buying some? If so how would I go about treating it for the tank? Thanks!! | |

| its a nice soft wood like bamboo so the plecos love it as they can really get into it.
If its from a craft shop i would be a bit wary tho, as it may have been treated with something to help ward of boring insects or something.
I would suggest the same kind of treatment of it as bamboo, boil the hell oit of it then let is soak for up to 12 weeks changing the water every week or so such that anything leaches out of it into that water before it has a chance to harm your fish.

| Here is an ebay auction for some http://cgi.ebay.com/30-Pieces-Cholla-Cactus-Wood-12-L-/280521237261?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item41505e630d If anyone is interested and thinks Ebay is too much I can check on finding some and maybe getting it shipped to you. I haven't done any research on shipping or compared pricing on anything yet. But, like I mentioned before I could see what I could do to help any of ya if you were interested. Maybe since it is native to the states you could sell it where you live and share the profits Just something to think about. But if you were wanting it for yourself it would be like helping a friend and I would not charge you anything except what it would cost to buy and ship it. | |

| no way in hell that would get into Aus!
Not without being fumigated to high hell and then it would be useless for fish as it would be toxic.
Don't get me wrong, i think its good to have strong customs regulations but sometimes its such a pain!

| Never thought of that. They don't want any "invasive" species set loose. | |

| Hey, I'm not sure if you can buy it dried, but I know you can buy the plants, I used to have one in my cactus collection until I got rid of it due to the spines always sticking in me. I got my plant from a local market | |
