| Subject: best tank glass cleaner inside and out... Wed Jul 14, 2010 2:18 pm | |
| Anew topic for you here,
since I am out of work was wondering what all you guys and girls use to clean the inside and out side glass on all your various fish tanks and aquariums or vivariums etc....
I use the magnet cleaner (inside) but have noticed that on the tank with sand substrate it can sometimes scratch the glass no matter how gentle I am....
I have a very tight budget right now and wondered if any one had any hints or tips here...
I also find that a very small amount of fairy liquid in a bottle and a new micro fleece cloth is amazing at cleaning the out side of the glass, and leaves it almost as new..... remember i mean a very small amount of fairy liquid (just enough to cover the bottom of the dispenser) and fill the rest up with water... and you have a ready made glass cleaner .....
The micro fleece and water does the trick but a little washing liquid does it ten times better.....
Regards

| My otos and BNs keep the inside of my tanks spotless. As far as the outside glass I spray a little glass cleaner on a papertowel and use some elbow grease. The glass lids for my tanks get white vinigar and a super rinse. | |

| for the outside i use glass cleaner. I used to be a cleaner and have dirty great big drums of it I make sure the lids are on nice and tight and only spray little bits to avoid overspray getting in the tank. Inside i too avoid the magnetic cleaners for the same reason. I have one and it is in my angel tank giving them something to spawn on (but they always go for the filter ) I use a razor blade for the inside of the glass. I got a holder thing from my local hardware store and use that, or just the blade. As long as you are carful not to scratch the glass it works really well, especially if you have issues with green spot algae or black algae on the glass like i do in my main tank I also find that the blade works really well on the lids too | |
