do longfin bristlenose have smaller bodies because of the long tail. like say its 12cms 7cms of body 5cms of tail and theres a normal bristlenose 12cms are they the same?

not sure about this since there seem to be so few long fins in the area near me...

you might get better help with Doug, Moo or curby... so if they don't see your post then may be you should PM them...

well wathc this spot for the answer, though I would tend to agree with your comments.

However I need educating regarding longfins.. :P

The length of a fish is measured fron the snout to the base of the caudal(tail) fin.

Although a longfin BN might be 12cms long with its tail 5cms it would only be measured as 7cms (say for stocking levels).

You would have to compare a longfin and common that are both the same length from snout to base of tail.

Longfins will probably grow slower than commons.

Jim has it!

Longfins get to the same size as shortfins (and a fully grown longfin is a sight to behold!)

they just take longer to get there are a lot of energy goes into those fins
