Cory Julii Death Empty
PostSubject: Cory Julii Death   Cory Julii Death EmptyWed Sep 22, 2010 12:22 pm

Just before i left for work this morning I had a quick look round the tank to see one of my Corydoras Julii not looking right, sure enough i got the net and there was no movement. I didnt have time to take a picture but the belly of the fish was quite round (they were fed late yesterday) so no real obvious signs there but the colour of the belly was quite yellow. I have a group of about 5 or 6 Julii's, 4 bronze and 4 Albino (i think). The Julii's are the least active during the day but having said that they are all nosey and will follow me round the tank when i am cleaning the sand etc. I have seen no evidence of fighting (if that ever happens with Cory's?).

I thought that perhaps she was egg-bound and either couldnt or wouldnt shed the eggs?

They are in my main community tank so there are clown loaches, A male & female BN, 3 clown plecos, a sailfin plec and various tetras and dannios. So i would assume any breeding activity would not be successful?

Anyone have any ideas? The way i found the fish and the condition it was in suggested to me that he/she hadnt been dead long. When i get home from work i will do a full water parameter test but everything else seems to be fine in the tank. I have had the Julii's for at least a year maybe even 2 as i purchased 2 small groups and cant determine which one it was from.

I have a RIO 180 with an eheim external filter, and i change about 12 litres every 2 days which seems to work really well.
