| First -the wood, I collected some big pieces of drift wood at the beach today. I'm going to let it soak for a while before I put it in a tank. Has anyone ever drill or chiselled caves into wood? Would Bristlenoses use them?
Caves- I'm planning on making some caves from clay and firing them to make them waterproof- my question is what form should the inside take- they'll be unglazed but should they be smooth? Should they only have one entrance?

| Wood...Yes they will love a wood cave if it is the right size for the males liking..I'm sure they would like it bigger inside than at the entrance.. I rather use a cave where I see the proceedings with minimal interference..
Clay..smooth as you can get it inside and I don't think they care about shape. I personally like my homemade flowerpot cave it has a small entrance, while the inside is more roomy.., I also use round clay caves, close one end..

| hI ALL,
I make my own wood caves. Some tipsfor you. All wood collected, place in a 60gal drum of water with added conditioner to remove the yuck stuff. Add an airstone, leave the wood for 4-6weeks. Leave outside or unde cover. Reason for this is that is also gets the aufwuchs growing on it for the Ls and BNs. Go to the hardware store and buy a drill bit to drill out 3cm to 4cm in circumferance. When you drill secure wood with grips and drill to 10cm-15cm inside. Be careful. Fun and games. cheers jk :<a href='h
