Sad day today
While doing my water change I found my prize L071 male peppermint from my breeding pair trapped between a plant stem, airline and the heater.
From further investigation it appears to me that the male peppermint L071 could have had a little fight with another male
and then it appears it got it sharp whisker attached to the plant stem, unable to wriggle free it seems to have got stuck between
the stem and the heater
Gutted as it must be the only bit of the tank I can not see, and I do a water change once every three days in that tank at the minute.
It must have been stuck pretty good with its sharp whiskers as I had to remove the plant, and air line and remove the dead L071 with some
new scissors.
It is always a shame to lose a lovely fish and even worse when it is your male from your breeding pair.
I could be partly to blame since I had 4 males and 4 females in the same tank, and even though they have not shown any aggression
before they are only sharing the tank as a temporary measure until I gain an additional tank and move home.
I have been down sizing ready for my move to make it easier, so that tank as a few more peppermints in than I need
I now have 3 males, and 4 females peppermint L071 so just hope I do not lose any more in the next 4-6 weeks
whilst we get our new home to go through...
Just thought I would let you know as no matter what preparations you make, sometimes you
can not plan for every thing.
