| personally, I just leave any veggies in the tank until A) its gone, or B) the fish lose interest in it, or c) until it goes bad. veggies tank longer to go bad depending on the temp of the water. You'll know when its time to take out any old veggies because they will start to murk up the water and get all stringy and start floating all over the tank. | |

i leave it for up to 5 days or intill its all eaten We've tried this and the sweet potato is great as it doesn't foul the water like the cucumber etc, however, I find that they don't seem to eat as much of it. I may try giving them both the sweet potato and the cucumber (that's their preference LOL) so that they have a choice | |

| thanks folks... never tried the cucumber yet...right now there on green beans, and some algae wafers...and a little sweet potatoe. i kept the tater in there for about 3 days-then discarded it. i drive a truck-so home time can be rough at times-but on the longer runs i'll throw the tater in. | |
