| How many caves would you say would be best in a tank? I have 1 male & 2 female in my main tank and have a slate cave and have just put in a new half coconut shell cave with moss and java fern growing on it. My male loves the slate cave lol! Was wondering if I needed to put in any more??? Also I have baby longfins at betweem 1.5" & 2.5" ( and baby L059 between 1" & 1.5" (4) in a tank. These havent got any caves but I have 3 pieces of bogwood in there that they hide round. Would they be better with caves too? Do the 'girls' like caves too? Am I better getting a cave for each of them? Sorry for all the questions. I have done searches and googled it but cant find any answers | |

| if he likes the slate cave then remove all the others. Best bet most of the time is to have 1 cave if you only have one male. You let him choose which one he likes then get rid of the rest.
If you have more than one male then its best to add in more caves but in this case one. | |

| So its best to have one per male? What do you think about the babies and their tank? Would they be happier with caves or is it best to wait until they are a bit bigger? The tank is fairly well planted and they seem happy enough at the mo but, being new to all this, I want to try and get it right or at least keep them happy and healthy if I can | |

| The babies won't really be looking for a cave as such at a small size, but they will want some cover or hiding spots.. Ive found the best thing to use, if you can, is a piece of wood that has many many holes or crevices in it.. Just keep up regular small water changes to keep ammonia down and feed a combination of zuccini, possibly flake food and, if old enough, some small algae discs.. Good luck with it all Pete | |

| Thanks fat! I have 3 bits of bogwood in there with thick plants growing on top and have stones and lots of other thick plants in there. The wood is a little lumpy and forms lots of little 'bridges' that they like to sit under. I have a small amount of pot belly molly fry in there too so I have been feeding crushed flake, algae wafers and fresh cucumber which they all love. They are growing well and look healthy, just wasnt sure if I needed to put some 'proper' caves in or not | |
