my tank water smells like dirt

my tank water smells like dirt .. no jke .. it smells like fresh dirt for sum reason ???

it happens some times. If you want to get rid of it use some activated carbon for a few days

could it be from the teracota pot ?? thats what my housemate says

When you put your new filter in did you keep running your undergravel

If you stopped using the undergravel then the tank has probably gone into a cycle because there will insufficient bacteria in the new filter. You need to test the ammonia and nitrate levels, sometimes when these are raised it can cause your water to smell.

Can't see it being the terracotta pot, unless you left a plant in it
