Hi, nice to meet everyone. I discovered this site two days ago and I've already learned a lot.
I'm planning on getting my first pair of BNs as soon as possible.
For now, I just am reading as much as I can about them and changing my 30 gallon in which I'm going to be putting them in accordingly. Laughing

Welcome to the forum violetmoss3, good stratergy reading up first - that will make your fish happier.
30 gallons for a pair , you should get away with that , what other fish are you putting the B/N with?
Cheers J

I'm already have in my 30 gallon: 10 Harlequin Rasboras,
4 adult cherry barbs and 4 more fry in my quarantine tank,
2-3 otos(I only see 2 at a time), one female betta, and 3+ pygmy cories. I'm also thinking of putting in 6 or more cardinal tetras to have more color in my mainly red themed tank. lol!

High violetmoss3 , so 21 possibly 27 little fish in a 30 gal, how do find that to work?
Still a pair of B/N shouldn't blow out the numbers that much, I seriously couldn't count how many
little B/N's I have in my 50 gal and don't seem to have to many dramas with water quality.
Get the B/N and enjoy
Cheers J

PostSubject: Water quality   Hello from Florida EmptyWed Mar 04, 2009 2:39 am

Its been fine so far. I put my first oto in on January 12. I had already planted a lot of fast growing plants by then, so water quality hasn't been much of an issue. But then, on this tank, I've been doing numerous water changes just to get the sand to look the way it should, as I've had a plague of blue-green algae on it. I didn't originally plan for BNs, but the tank really doesn't look fully stocked. Smile I guess you could say it was love at first sight for the BNs. I saw some 2 weeks ago, and was SO tempted to make an impulse purchase. But as they were plecos,i desisted and went home and researched them. I've found its best to know before hand what you're getting into.
