More Spawnings

Well, we inherited a trio of bristlenose, but it is not known which species they are. They're unusually marked, almost marbly, and we were going to try and get some piccies for ID from here and they've gone and spawned!!!

We're gonna have to leave to babies (if/when they hatch) either with the parents or in a dedicated tank as we don't want to mix them with the common browns

i'm thinking they could be Piebald b/n's?

it's easy to tell if they are marble because they have swirley lines on there heads instead of spots

Nice to see someone being responsible and breeding their lines of fish as true strains(species), I've recently
read on another forum some tripper got his hands on a big Albino male and smaller brown female B/N and has
managed to spawn them pretty quickly and they,he ,she seems to think this is great. Am I the only one with a
problem against hybrids. Congrats on a another spawn by the way Angi-N-Wayne.

We already have piebalds/calico's and they are very different to them. They were sold initially as L183's but believe me, they definitely ain't those lol Not to worry though, he got a refund and got to keep the fish too. So the question still stands lol

All I can say for definite is that they seem to go greyish/pale from time to time. This also is their first spawn so fingers crossed they get it right.

I think it's the same with all fish, if they can be cross bred they will be. Hence Discus now having more strains with weird names than you can shake a stick at.

We bought a breeding trio of brown Longfins before Christmas and when they arrived the females weren't veiltails :!: :!: He's now with 2 longfin females and the original females are with a normal finned male in the community tank.

I also know someone who had a brown pair of longfins that did a 25% split of albinos.

We only tend to split the young ones around the tanks as they grow on, once they start getting to the juvenile stage we put them into species/strain specific tanks.

Well, whatever they are hatched yesterday. I will try and get a piccie later when we have a feckle in the fish room .............
