| indeed, no way to know and if this is the first time i would not be poking around too much or torching him. Best best is just to wait and see if you will be rewarded for your efforts. | |

| sounds promising best to wait for them to let you know rather than finding out for their first time. last thing you want is for him to boot the eggs! Good luck | |

| should make yourself up an egg tumbler too. they have a habit of booting eggs on there first try anyways. that way if you cant help yourself (most cant) and do shine the torch in there youll be safe if he does boot em
oh and hows the signature now Wolverine?...

| they dont filter the water at all, they use the air lift principle to draw water over the eggs to simulate the fanning from dad. My egg tumbler filters the water...little teaser for you all | |

| cichlids could eat the fry within about 10minutes... depends how hungry they are and how many hiding places you have.. npt worth risking if you ask me... by the way mollies also eat almost any thing small - more so baby fry | |

It really depends on the cave, is there more then one entrance/exit, and the individual male. The eggs will normally hatch in about 5 days but the male could keep the fry in there for anything upto 3 weeks.

| I found the male came out to eat but dashed back immediately anything disturbed him. (me or another fish) so I put a wafer near his cave for him. | |
