| if the male is in good condition then he will be fine. some males sneak out to have a cheeky feed while they still have eggs while others will not. | |

| at three weeks you would expect to see some little ones escaping the cave. the only issue now is that if they do escape it might be at night and by the time you get to see the tank they are gone I would have a look now as the male has little control over the fry now. he keeps them in the cave by blocking the exit and my be doing that rather strongly knowing there are lots of hungry chiclids around. have a look and see what the story is. | |

| Update,i put the cave in a long breeding net which has 6 suction cups on it to hold to the side of tank,in which the suction cups didnt hold it up to well when i went back to check on it,the net was hanging down one end with the cave pointing up ways and thought i was in trouble, ended up putting fishing line at all 4 ends to secure it the the top of the tank, the peppermint inside wasnt to worryed as it seems,i positioned the cave back and had a quick look today inside with the torch i seen a few babys inside so all is well,i dont know how many are in there but i know i did it... I want to ask before they come out if i should feed them wafers and zucchini ?... also i know now i have 3 females and one male so will my male breed with all 3 females???? Happy as.. P.s Doug thank you for your book was a great help to me, anyone that wants to try breeding bristlenose i recommend buying his book...

| Have to say all my babies have preferred lightly boiled spinach above everything else but sometimes I didn't give it to them as I thought they should have a varied diet! They did grow well and fast and have stunning colours though. Well done on getting these babies. I hope you are able to bring them on well. | |
