| Hey folks,
How does shipping fish work?
Is it possible to ship fish across state line within Australia?
If it is possible how would one go about it?
Cheers,
Damien | |

| Hmmm good question, I'm not all to sure on the correct answer. From what I heard from my lfs, fish within Australia are allowed to be freely shipped around australia. We just can't send certain fish oversees and vice-versa. As for going about it, I have no idea. I've read up somewhere that tropical fish are generally shipped over within special heater bags or something like that. Sorry I couldn't be more help... ~Tegan | |

| Yes shipping fish around Australia is possible and easy enough (for those who can be bothered, not me lol) There are many ways available to ship the fish including Express through Australia Post, Fastways and AAE (Australian Air Express) I have never sent fish through the mail but I have received them through all the ways possible and from every state lol. My personal favourite would be AAE as they are overnight airport to airport, but they are also the most expensive. I could possibly do a write up on how to pack the fish ready for transport but I'm at work using my iPhone lol. It's easy enough to find all the info you need through google. Few things tho fish should not be fed for 24hours before travel (less poo means less ammonia which leads to ammonia burns and other nastiness) plenty of air in bag (can get LFS to help with this) plastic Tupperware tub for the bag to sit in and scrunched newspaper for padding inside the tub (can also use stirafoam box instead) IMO best bags to use are kordon breather bags which do not nead air(not available in aus but can get from here http://www.kensfish.com/shippingsupplie.html They also stock heat packs that are useful for keeping the temp warm) | |
