HI guys. After trying everything in a smaller tank i have started up a 5 foot tank and put my trio of peps in there. In the smaller tank the male was showing all the signs that he has ready like waging his tail out of his cave. The female would sometimes hang around his cave but nothing would ever come of it. So i was just wondering if you guys reckon by tripling the floor space in there home if they might now feel comfortable enough to breed. and also with the edition of some peat the ph is hanging around the 7ph mark, is that ok?

My 2 pair are breeding in a 2.5ft tank.

I am getting rid of the 2.5ft though and they will be moving into a 3.5ft. If they are gonna breed they will, havent noticed any difference with floor space

no worries guys thanks for your feedback. i also just got a breeding pair of albino longfin bn's and they are in the smaller tank now so hopefully they will get going soon. I was also just wondering that if i got a couple more female peps in the 5 foot tank which would bring me to 4 females. Would that be enough ladies for 2 males or should i just stick with the one.

you need more females than males. otherwise the males will be too busy fighting over the caves and the girls to bother breeding. pepes are best bred in trios (1m, 2f). in a 5ft tank you could easily have 2 trios Smile

Excellent, well it looks like i better go find myself another trio. There new tank is also out in the shed now where it is nice and quiet and pretty dark so hopefully having a bit more privacy to do there business helps get them going to. Thanks again for all the good advice. My knowledge on bn's is pretty well built from this website so cheers
