| Hi All
Just a couple of questions regarding your grow out tanks...
1. What size do you currently use for your grow out tank/s...??
(Currently 1 grow out tank 60x35x30 cms)
2. How many fish do you keep in it when growing them on...??
(unfortuately as its currently the only one that i have its about 65 mixed young)
3. What size do you grow them on too before letting them go..??
(BNs - 4/5 cms all others about 3 cms as this is the size my LFS ideally likes them.)
4. Do you keep them in the tank alone or with other fish...??
(with other young, current quantities of fish in the tank are 7 young BN, 3 young black sailfin Mollies, 50ish young high fin Mickey Mouse Platies and 5 young guppies. I just took 20 odd fish to my LFS from this tank)
5. How often do you do water changes and what sort of pecentage of the water do you change..??
(weekly about 20%)
6. What type of bottom do you have.... (Peachy, Pert or Saggy ) sorry couldn't resist that, what I mean is do you use gravel, sand, bare botton or something else..?? (fine gravel)
7. Filtration type and air pump if separate...??
(two small internal filterseach one recommended for at least the tank size so effectifly twice the filtration recommended and seperate airstone (4 inch) )
8. Planted or unplanted..?? If planted, sparsely or heavily..??
(Planted, a couple of rooted plants (wisteria) and quite a lot of floating plant (Hornwort))
9. Last one, Do you breed your fish in specific breeding tanks or just let them get on with it in your Display/community tank..??
(As I currently only have one other tank, my display tank, they all breed in there and I have to catch them and transfer them to the grow out tank. Other young still currently in the display tank which I haven't caught due to over crowding in the grow out tank are young BN, young platies, young guppies, and young Kribs. Kribs have also just had another batch of about 40 young in the last couple of days..!! For info my display tank is very heavily planted and I never try and "trigger" any breeding I just let them get on with it..)
I have put the answers for my set ups in Red. I am looking to get a 6x2x2 foot tank to use as my main display tank and then use my current 4 foot as my grow out tank and then use my current grow out tank as a possible species only breeding tank... but as we are looking to move, going to wait until that happens first....!!
