| bristlenose are a type of pleco.
Pleco is short for plecostomus which is a nickname for fish of the Loricariidae family. Plecostomus is the scientific name of the common pleco but 'pleco' has become the name for fish of the Loricariidae family.
Bristlenose are part of the Loricariidae family under the genus Ancistrus. there are many types of bristlenose in this genus, over 100 different species.
is that the info you were after? | |
