Subject: How gravid..? Tue May 29, 2012 6:55 am
How big do the female BN's get right before they drop? All 3 of my females have bellies with the biggest belly making her look like she has no rib line left and is a little less hungry. She is still eating but i am guessing she doesnt have much room left.
I did a goooooooogle search on gravid BNs but she is nothing like those ones i saw & is only smallish in size 7-8cm.
I have only noticed the bellies in the last few days - it is definitely not bloat as the boys are fine & the girls have the pink patches along the bottom of the belly.....
I have sat for 45 mins trying to get a picture but cant...

My females belly gets so big that I can see light between her mouth and belly it's quite disturbing. But she goes back to flat once she drops her eggs... she is 3" long(including tail) and usually drops 110 eggs.
Check out my video at about 1:50 it shows how ripe she gets.

yeah, it looks like they are ready to pop. def not bloat
They will hold on to them until they are ready though. so if the males are caved up then I would be doing a cool water change and when the next front comes over (not for a few days ) and see how they go
I reckon you are close!

Awesome! I just went & bought another filter :/ LOL Just to add a bit more "flow" across the bottom.
So now in a 200L tank i have approx 2700lph of filtration.... These babies better like it lol....
