| Have had an ABN female for quit a while now and she has not spawned or even looked like she has had any eggs. Is there anything i can do to the water or feed her to make her produce some eggs? | |

| Hi,are there other females in the tank with her? It may be that she is a sub female and will not get a chance to breed if there are other females in the tank. How many males are there also? Bristlenoses | |

| Hello, At 6 months of age she will still need aprox 4-6 months of growing till she reaches sexual maturity. This being said it is aparant that all BNS have slightly different maturing rates. In the mean time you can feed her a nice dose of protein such as frozen beef heart or shrimp cubes to help her bulk up a bit but do be careful about over feeding proteins as they will cause bloat in the Bn... I find aprox half a cube per adult each week goes down nicely as a supliment in their diet. Hope this helps | |

| Hey, sorry it seems my response has confused things more then helping... Feeding meat based foods can quickly cause bloat but I was just saying out of experience it has only happened once with a fry of about 4cm that gauged itself on the beef heart while the other adults were caving up... If you don't have meet based aquarium foods or are worried about using them then just leave her to mature in her own time while feeding algae wafers and fresh veggies. She will breed when she's ready | |

| Have you got wood in the tank ? Have you actualy tested the water in the tank? What are the readings? It isn't really a good idea to keep cichlids with bristlenoses especialy breeding bristlenoses.I understand they are only small at the moment, when will you be removing them? They also need different water chemistry and I know bristlenoses can adapt but it is a possibility that it can affect breeding. This is why i ask for the tank water readings and if you have wood in the tank.
