| Hi; I have noticed something a little strange this morning. My male bristlenose has gone around and dug lots of holes in the gravel. He has never done this before. Normally he hangs around his caves (3 natural wood, 2 rock). Is this normal behaviour for bristlenoses to do this??? It reminds me of the excavating skills of chiclids I have kept in the past. The only thing I can think of it has been pretty hot here in the last two days and the tank has gone up to 28°C (82°F). Any ideas ??? Marty | |

| Hi just an appendum to my earlier post. My male bristlenose has now seemed to go darker. Where before he was a dark gey now he seems to go blacker and his small grey dots also look darker. Is this some kinf of breeding signal to want to attract a mate ??? Strange as he is the only bristlenose in the tank. Should I get him a girlfriend ???? I am really perplexed at his digging and behaviour and now the colour change. Marty | |

| bristlenose love caves and tight hiding holes. If there is a rock or log on the bottom and they can dig under it then they will. Its really annoying when they dig up all your plants too If you want to get him a mate then go for it, sounds like he has his cave already sorted | |

If you want to get him a mate then go for it, sounds like he has his cave already sorted Hi; That is what I thought but I was not certain. The funny thing is that he just did it on the front of the tank away from any rocks or wood. It just looks like a moonscape. But I guess I am lucky he picked a spot away from plants. So I am letting good old Boris keep his "pit". But I might get him a girl, just to keep him happy. After all he is the prettiest and cutest fish in the tank and deserves special treatment. Marty | |
