| Those are beautiful albinos you have, and it certainly looks like they are setting up housekeeping. Your tank should be glowing with little yellow munching machines in no time. I think I would make that middle pic of your handsome, self-satisfied male your avatar if I were you! Good luck Sarah | |

| My Pleco's have Egg's! woke up this morning to see my male fanning, looked inside the cave and there is a bunch of eggs, unforchantly though later on i saw the other female trying to go inside the cave to lay her eggs but the male chased her away... while doing this he also knocked out some of the fertilsised eggs. I have put these eggs in a DIY fry catcher for now untill the pet shop opens up tommorow and i can get a proper one, i have counted 20 that have escaped and atleast 30 in the cave and my other female is yet to lay!
Ill keep you updated! | |

| Hi,it would be better to change the cave for one that is more tubular and rougher. The problem with your type is that the eggs can't stick very well as it is too smooth a surface so mostly they become unattached. Also sitting on gravel isn't a good idea in my opinion as it can harbour bacteria. Good luck with the eggs ! Bristlenoses | |

| Out of curiosity, are there other fish in your tank with the BNs?
And Bristlenoses, can you elaborate on this harboring of bacteria? | |

| It is just my opinion but when a male is fanning in a cave he always fans out any unwanted debris also (I don't know if you know this or have witnessed it for yourself but they do,they keep the cave clean) well in a large pot that is sat directly on the gravel he can't keep it clean and free of debris. Also gravel can harbour debris which can go furry(mouldy) etc.i hope i have explained it o.k. | Ok, gotcha, thanks! I was thinking how my male keeps his cave super clean so i was a bit confused. I think if you siphon that gravel occasionally when there are no eggs/babies present it would probably be fine but if you left it entirely up to the male the gravel would get impacted eventually. | |

| In my tank i have a red tailed black shark clown loach 2x mickey mouse platties yoyo fish and grami... they never bother my three bristle noses, i kept them mainly for show but noticed they were getting rather plump so put a small cave in. i do regular 20% water changes to keep the tank water clear as i have alot of bog wood which turns the water yellow, I have a large mouth on the syfon which cleans the gravel so it is allways quite clean. I will be making a new cave soon i will look for a more textured material next time which should hopefully let the eggs grip better. Unforchantly the eggs appear to be going slightly hairy which i think could be mould which is lightly to kill the eggs but i think one of my females is yet to lay so i shall try and sort out a cave before then :L | |

| Sorry to hear about the eggs :,( some people add a little methylene blue to prevent fungus on the eggs. | |
